SNACK BAR STAFFING PROCEDURE:

Each team will be responsible for the staffing of the snack bar for the entire evening (or morning/day for Saturday games) of assigned dates. The snack bar will be staffed by parents, adult friends or relatives of players.  There will be a minimum of 2 people working in the snack bar at all times.  Children 14-18 years of age must be Board Approved to be eligible to work in the snack bar.  There must be one adult present at all times.  To be approved or to hire someone for a shift, contact Janice Mahn

(see contact info below).

Parents who would prefer to have someone else work their shift in the snack bar, must inform their Team Rep. Team Reps then need to contact Janice Mahn to make the arrangements.  Keep in mind one adult needs to be in the Snack Bar at all times. Teenagers working in the snack bar will be paid $15/shift by the parents whom they are working for. (Team Reps should collect this money, then pay it the night their team was assigned.) No friends of workers allowed in snack bar.  Only those working may be in snack bar.   Children below the age of 14 are not permitted to work in the snack bar.  Note: There must be 1 adult in the snack bar at all times.

We recommend the team parent assign 2 1/2 hr shifts, to cover the evening with 2 -3 persons at all times. The cost is $15 per person - per shift to be paid by the team or parent, whom the Board approved teen is covering for.

For help in covering your shift/Nominating a teen for hire list contact Janice Mahn. Tell her which Team you're from, and which shifts need to be covered. Please give as much notice as possible!

 GUIDELINES:

When your team is scheduled to host the fields, you are responsible for staffing the snack bar and also trash detail.  To avoid overflow and scattering of trash on the fields, we need ALL the trash containers (5 or 6 of them) dumped into the large dumpster DAILY, with new liners put in.

Also, a sweep of the fields picking up any litter needs to be done.  There are bags available in the snack bar.

Refer to the calendar format of the schedule to see how many games are scheduled the day you've been assigned.  The top # represents how many early games are scheduled, and the lower # how many late. We recommend that you break up each night into two shifts with each shift being 2+ hours in length.

WEEKNIGHTS: The first shift is 5:15 to 7:30, the 2nd shift being 7:15 to 9:30.

SATURDAYS: The shift is 8:45 to 11:30

Please remember to have at least 2 people staffed to work in the snack bar at all times

Guide:

When there are 4 games going on at a time, schedule 4 people in the snack bar.

When there are 3 games going on at a time, schedule 3 people in the snack bar.

Otherwise, no less than 2 people in there for safety.

Schedule others for trash detail - this is not a glamorous job, but less of a time commitment.

Example:

On April 24th the MAJOR REDS are scheduled to host the fields.

There are 3 early games & 2 late games scheduled.

SCHEDULE:

3 people between 5:15-7:30

2 people from 7:15-9:30

Don't forget to also schedule 2 people to handle the trash or have your team sweep the fields of litter after a game (if playing).

In most cases this still works out to each family working 1 shift per team.  If it works out that you have left over parents that don't get scheduled, put them on trash detail for one or both nights (If done properly, the trash detail part could conceivably be done in 1 hour or less, by a team of 2-3 people).  Otherwise, everyone just needs to be responsible to see to it that the trash detail gets worked into the night somewhere and it gets done.  Basically, try to work it out so that everyone participates at least once.  In some cases, you may have some parents, who can't or won't fulfill their snack duty obligation; they then have the option to pay someone to do it.  You?ll need to collect $15 from them (immediately) then follow the procedure above to have a Board Approved Youth cover their shift.

Please remind parents and visitors that we are guests of Royal Palm Middle School and it's our duty to respect their grounds.

We thank you in advance for all your efforts and we are looking forward to a great season.  In addition, if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to approach or contact us with your ideas.

Thank you for your cooperation!
